Research supports the effectiveness of our program as we implement the factors that generate the most consistent positive achievement for our students. Those factors are close coordination with the classroom or reading teacher, intensive and ongoing training for tutors, well-structured tutoring sessions in which the content and delivery of instruction is carefully scripted, careful monitoring and reinforcement of progress, frequent and regular tutoring sessions, as well as specially designed interventions for the 17 to 20 percent of children with severe reading difficulties (Office of the Under Secretary Planning and Evaluation Service, Evidence that Tutoring Works, 1997).
Dr. Marc C. Brown, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Tutor, holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership. Additionally, Dr. Marc Brown has a Master of Science degree in Special Education.
Dr. Tina R. Brown, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Tutor, holds a Virginia and Maryland Professional Teaching License in Education with a biology and Educational Administration endorsement. Also, Dr. Brown has taken over 30 credit hours in workshops, and special needs and gifted education topics.
They serve as a Board of Directors to ensure that they hire staff with backgrounds and experiences that will allow them to provide the quality services required by today’s standards-based schools.
Currently, there is a high request for affordable and quality educational supplementation services. Many parents come from disadvantaged backgrounds and cannot afford the cost of tutoring that is offered in nearby locations. Although they have a strong desire to help their child succeed, the financial burden can keep them from being able to do so. Additionally, although there is a high number of requests that parents/guardians have made regarding finding an affordable and quality tutor for their child(ren), it is difficult for them to locate a business such as ours unless they are “in the right place at the right time.” Most of our clients come from word-of-mouth despite the other forms of advertising with which we engage. Our organization offers a myriad of services from rates as low as $60 to $140, depending on the program. We only request that the parents consistently bring the child (every week) to the enrolled program.
